FYAP works with HSE Teachers and Faculty to ensure students have access to the academic support they need to be successful.  Tutoring varies on a case-by-case basis.  All of the programs we offer require student recommendations from the HSE schools we partner with.

Tutoring is supported by a holistic approach with caregiver/parent involvement, FYAP staff support and collaboration with tutor to put together a successful plan to reengage and build students who are struggling academically.  Our current programming includes:

• Client based 1:1 tutoring sessions meet outside of school hours, 1 hour per week for a 45-60 minute session.
• S.T.A.R. (Student/Teacher Academic Review) Time is our small group tutoring program that provides after school tutoring 2 days a week for 60 minute sessions.
• The Paws to Read program provides students an opportunity to read with a trained dog and their handler.  This program promotes increased confidence, interest, and enjoyment in reading, both at school and at home.
• Our Summer Bridge program provides academic enrichment in a fun and engaging environment for 2 weeks during the summer months.

Tutoring services are supported currently through FYAP grant dollars and all tutors will be provided an onboarding process where any required documentation will be completed and information will be shared about the student.
