Volunteer With Fishers Youth Assistance
Fishers Youth Assistance Program offers several opportunities for community members to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local youth and families.

Volunteer Opportunities
Our major programs rely on volunteers who are willing to give their time, talents, and encouragement to Fishers youth and families.
Holiday Helpers
The holiday season should be a time of joy, happiness, and celebration. However, for families struggling with health issues, finances, or other stresses, this time of year can feel overwhelming.
We partner with members of our community who are willing to “adopt” a child or family in need and help make their holiday a little brighter. Volunteers receive a needs and wishes list from the children or families they are supporting.
Volunteer Tutors
One of the important supports we offer families is tutoring. We focus on narrowing academic gaps in math and reading for students in grades K–12.
This one-on-one tutoring model pairs a student with a volunteer for a 45–60 minute session once a week. The day, time, and location are coordinated between the FYAP Tutoring Coordinator, volunteer tutor, and parent.
S.T.A.R. Time
Student/Teacher Afterschool Review Time is an after-school tutoring program that provides small-group tutoring sessions led by school-based staff, including teachers and instructional assistants.
Volunteers help ensure students arrive on time, distribute snacks, take attendance, spend time with students, and help students safely meet their families at pickup. S.T.A.R. Time occurs twice a week for 60-minute sessions.
Paws to Read
The Paws to Read program gives students the opportunity to read with a trained dog and their handler.
This literacy program helps students build confidence, improve social skills, and develop a love of reading. Volunteers help escort students to and from their classrooms.
